Please check the
Workshop Schedule for upcoming Reiki workshops.
April 12, 2011
Hi Everyone, it has been almost a year now since I began
the transition from Western style Reiki to Reiki in the Japanese philosophy.
I left the post bekow from last year to explain this change.
The really exciting news is that Frans Stiene from
the International House of Reiki in Australia is coming to Chattanooga!
He will offer Shinpiden - Level III Reiki - in Chattanooga in November of
this year. I am putting the finishing touches on the web page about this and
registration will open soon. I hope that you will check this out and if it
is for you save the dates November 16-19 to experience Reiki with Frans.
More information here ....
Reservations are coming in for the
Shoden workshop May 21-22. The
workshop is half full already, so if you're planning to take Shoden in May I
suggest you register soon to avoid being disappointed. Shoden is also
scheduled for June 25-26. Okuden will
be offered July 23-24. If you want to take Shinpiden with Frans and have not
taken either Okuden or the previous Reiki II workshop I encourage you to
register for Okuden in July.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Spring and I look
forward to seeing you again when you're ready to take the next Reiki step.
May 2010
Hi Everyone, this is Margaret and I'd
like to share with you what is going on in my Reiki world.
After 25 years practicing Western style Reiki and 15
years teaching Reiki in this style, I am transitioning my practice
and workshops to Japanese style Reiki. Reiki originated in Japan almost 100
years ago as a spiritual practice. Usui Sensei, the founder of Reiki, was a
Buddhist lay priest and spiritual teacher. He had an experience the
Buddhists call satori, which translates as enlightenment, and as a result
was given a powerful healing energy. He developed a healing practice using
this energy and trained healers and teachers. All Reiki teachers today
studied with a teacher who studied with a teacher who ... who studied with
Usui Sensei.
Reiki was brought to the western world - Hawaii to be
specific - just before the second world war. It was modified to be
acceptable in a western culture and many of the founders
teachings were lost. Reiki continued to be modified by various Reiki Masters
until it would not be recognized by the founder. Some of what has been added
is, in my opinion, valid extensions of Reiki. Other things are not. It is my
intention to practice and teach Reiki in a way that is consistent with the
original philosophy and intent of the founder.
Since the mid 90s, western Reiki masters have been
discovering Reiki as it was and still is practiced in Japan and
incorporating this new material into their practices and workshops. I have
introduced some of these Japanese Techniques into my workshops as I have
become aware of them, but I am now making a major change to teach more
according to the Japanese philosophy but in a way that is appropriate in our
culture. I will continue to teach Animal Reiki, which is not original to
Reiki but is one of the things I consider a valid extension of Reiki.
Private Sessions. I had a student ask me recently
if I offered private sessions. Yes, oh yes, I offer private sessions for
both humans and animals. I am now offering Reiju (i.e. an attunement) to all
students as a part of a private session. In Japan Reiki teachers offer Reiju
to their students every time they meet. I think this is a wonderful idea and
so I am doing this.
Sessions for humans continue to be available either in
person at my home or as distant healing. Animal Sessions may now include
Animal Reiki and/or Animal Communication as needed and are always done as
distant healing.
Shoden is the Japanese name for The Reiki I Workshop.
Shoden focuses on Reiki
for self healing. In addition to hand positions for self healing, it
includes several meditations to be practiced by the student between Reiki I
and Reiki II develop the flow of Ki and increase the student's sensitivity
to the energy. Reiju - attunements - are given four times during the
workshop. Animal Reiki is included in Reiki I. Currently Reiki I is offered
as a full day workshop, but in future it may be offered as two half days
instead. The tuition for Reiki I is $200 which currently includes two books.
Register for Shoden now.
Okuden is the Japanese name for
The Reiki II Workshop.
Reiki II is for students who have taken Reiki I and have worked with the
Reiki energy for their own healing and the healing of their friends and
family including their animals. Reiki II includes additional attunements and
meditations, the three Reiki symbols and mantras traditionally taught
at the second level as well as instruction in healing others appropriate for
someone who wants to practice Reiki professionally. There is no required
waiting time between Reiki I and Reiki II. Students are expected to practice
self healing and the meditations taught in Level I and continue to Reiki II
when they are ready. The tuition for Reiki II is $250 which currently
includes two books. Register for
Okuden now.
Online Registration is now available for all
workshops and events and will soon be available for private sessions. After
you complete the form for online registration for a workshop or event, you
will be given the option of completing your registration by mailing a check
or paying online with PayPal™.
Advanced Reiki Workshops were temporarily discontinued while I concentrate on transition of Reiki I
and II from Western to Japanese Reiki. I plan to offer them later in the year. They will also be modified
to be consistent with Japanese Reiki.
Special Offer for former Students. Reiki I and
Reiki II are totally new workshops. Students who have taken Reiki I and/or
Reiki II with me prior to 2010 may want to take these new workshops. So I am
inviting former students to take the new Reiki I and Reiki II workshops for
half price. Please contact me if you're interested. You can register online
and pay the 50% deposit knowing that it is for you the full amount for the
course.
